Gangs are a violent reality that people have to deal with in today's cities. What
has made these groups come about? Why do kids feel that being in a gang is both an
acceptable and prestigious way to live? The long range answer to these questions can
only be speculated upon, but in the short term the answers are much easier to find. On
the surface, gangs are a direct result of human beings' personal wants and peer pressure.
To determine how to effectively end gang violence we must find the way that these
morals are given to the individual Unfortunately, these can only be hypothesized.
However, by looking at the way humans are influenced in society, I believe there is good
evidence to point the blame at several institutions. These include the forces of the media,
the government, theater, drugs and our economic system.

And studies show, that young smokers are likely to start doing drugs, selling drugs, and so forth. Young smokers start smoking at 12 or 13 just to get a taste of what it's like.

the most common and harmful consequence of smoking is, lung and mouth cancer. Think about it, is it worth: having bad breath, turning your teeth yellow, wasting 2500 $ per year and risking lung cancer just for a bad habit you picked up because of peer pressure? Hopefully, in the future, teens aren't going to think anymore that they could stop whenever they want and they won't even think about trying to smoke.

Despite this, tourists and locals are still eagerly snapping pictures from afar.

When Channel NewsAsia last visited the structure on Sunday, water was still flowing from the sculpture’s mouth.

Debris from parts of the statue’s head that fell off after lightning struck were cleared on Saturday night.

No one was injured.

The Singapore Tourism Board said it is waiting for a full assessment from contractors before deciding when to allow the public access to the statue, and whether to erect a lightning conductor to prevent a repeat incident. — CNA/ms

HELSINKI - The world's top mobile phone maker Nokia is eyeing entering the laptop business, its Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said in an interview to Finnish national broadcaster YLE on Wednesday.

"We are looking very actively also at this opportunity," Kallasvuo said, when asked whether Nokia plans to make laptops.

Industry has rumored about Nokia's possible plan to enter the PC industry since late last year, but Kallasvuo's comment was the first official admittance of such plans.

NEW YORK, (AFP) - - The New York Knicks may have been no match for Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, but the National Basketball Association statistics experts have managed to slow him down.

The NBA announced on Friday that James was incorrectly awarded with a rebound in the final minute of Cleveland's victory over the Knicks on Wednesday night.

The correction means James came up one rebound short of what had appered to be his 21st career triple-double.

Instead, James finished with 52 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.

The revision also prevented James from being the first player to have a triple-double in a 50-point game since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar accomplished the feat in 1975.
